Hum Kids is a mobile app paired with a connected toothbrush that helps make brushing fun for kids and enables parents to track their brushing habits. As the lead UX Designer, I focused on enhancing the existing UX for features such as the parent dashboard, while also researching and introducing new features, including the brush timer and missions. I spearheaded the first usability test with kids for the team, considering our limited budget. I worked closely with the graphics team and the development team, based in France, especially when translating designs into the Unity platform.
Lead UX Designer and Researcher
April - December 2022 (8 months)
UX Design Intern, Development team, Graphics team, Product team (France)
One of the features I researched and designed from start to finish was the Missions feature. The purpose was to introduce a new form of gamification and rewards to motivate kids to brush more. I conducted background and competitive analysis, sketched and created lo-fi designs, held a design critiques and created a mid-fi prototype, and usability tested with two kids. I worked closely with the development and graphic design teams to reach the final designs and development of the feature.
